Main picked up a well earned point in a much improved performance at Armthorpe Welfare.
Manager Sean Kay again made changes with James Mitchell, Andy Hirst and Danny Payne, along with new signings Scott Somerville and Nicky Darker all coming into the starting line-up.
In the twenty first minute, after a slow start to the game, Andy Hirst latched onto Jordan Stock’s long ball forward but could only steer the ball wide of the Welfare goal.
At the other end, Welfare’s Steve Rock had a shot from the edge of the box saved by Main ‘keeper Liam Richardson before, on twenty five minutes, Main midfielder Danny Mullooley headed just wide from a Paul Staniforth free kick.
Two minutes later striker Scott Somerville, starting his first match since his return from Parkgate, was put clear by Nicky Darker but Welfare ‘keeper Paul Fraser got down well to save a low shot with his legs.
With ten minutes in the half remaining Welfare’s Nathan Iley shot over after Liam Muirhead’s header from Rock’s cross was blocked.
Then, in injury time, Darker had a long range shot saved for Main and Rock shot wide of the Main goal.
Three minutes after the break Welfare striker Liam Radford had a shot blocked, but four minutes later, the home side took the lead when Rock shot into the
bottom corner of the net, beating Richardson from twenty yards.
Main defender James Mitchell hit a shot high over the bar before, in the sixty fourth minute Main were awarded a penalty when Iley pulled back Mullooley in the box and from the spot Ashley Longstaff smashed ball past Fraser for the equaliser.
Fraser saved a Danny Payne shot and, from Stock’s cross, Mullooley ‘s header was saved.
On seventy five minutes, Payne wasted a glorious chance to put Main ahead, shooting wide from six yards following Somerville’s cross into the box.
With eight minutes remaining Welfare’s James Walker‘s shot from Jason Blount’s corner was deflected wide and from the corner substitute Lee Danysz headed the ball into the net but his effort was ruled out for pushing.
Main substitute Scott Riley shot over from eight yards and Welfare had several chances in the dying moments with Iley heading over from Walker’s free kick, Rock shooting over the bar and Richardson easily saving another low shot from Rock.
