Main slipped to another away defeat, this time at Arnold Town, eventually going down three-one to stay firmly in the bottom four of the Premier Division.
Michael Baker, Scott Rushton and Danny White were added to the starting line-up with Jovan Maric named on the bench with new signings Ian Hemingway and Nathan McHale.
Town’s Rowan Hines hit a fourth minute shot wide and, at the other end, Main midfielder Michael Baker shot wide after Danny Payne headed down Paul Staniforth’s long throw into the box.
In the seventeenth minute Nick Hall shot well wide of the Main goal. Then, Main defender Danny Reilly headed wide from Carl Thornton’s free kick into the box.
Chris Dickman had a long shot easily saved by Town ‘keeper Lee Broster before, on the half hour mark, Town’s Ashley Harrison wasted a glorious chance to put the home side ahead when he sliced his shot wide after Main ‘keeper Gerrard Bowtell-Harris dropped Tyiesse Nightingale’s high cross into the box.
Bowtell-Harris made amends with a good save to deny Harrison following Nightingale’s corner and Town striker Craig Mitchell shot over from a good position after being sent clear by Hines’ through ball.
Three minutes before the break Town took the lead when Bowtell-Harris spilled Nightingale’s curling free kick and Tian Walton was first to react, passed the ball across the line to Mitchell, who tapped in at the back post.
