Maltby Main Football Club
Main picked up their first win since August 30th with a brilliant victory at Bridlington Town.
Following their eight-one thrashing of Long Eaton in midweek, Town were looking confident and were close to taking an early lead when Main ‘keeper Jamie Bailey made a terrific double save to deny Chibuzor Chilaka and Danny Buttle  inside the box.
Town defender Sam Sharman fired a third minute shot wide before, nine minutes later, Main striker Rob Branagan shot over the Town bar.
A minute later Main took an unexpected lead when Dave Shepherd’s corner ended up in the back of the net after ‘keeper Glenn Powley failed to gather after John Beggs achieved a a slight touch on the ball.
After sixteen minutes, Main doubled their lead with a well taken strike from Branagan, a header inside the box from Shepherd’s pinpoint cross.
Just before the half hour mark, Main silenced the home support as they raced into a three goal lead. Branagan latched onto Beggs’ through ball and shot past Powley into the bottom corner.
Town were well off target with several chances to get back
into the game. Buttle and Chilaka shot over, Buttle shot just wide from Phil Harrison’s corner and, just before the break, Harrison shot high over the Maltby bar.
Three minutes into second half Bailey made a good stop to deny Chilaka and, two minutes later, Harrison went close with a snap shot that came back off the post.
In the sixty fourth minute Town pulled a goal back when Ash Dexter headed in from twelve yards following Harrison’s cross from the right.
Eleven minutes later, Chilaka scored Town’s second and put the home side back in the match with a shot from inside the box that went under the diving Bailey.
With five minutes remaining, Harrison had a shot blocked and Dexter headed over from Buttle’s corner as Brid pushed for the equaliser but Branagan was close to his third when Town defender Adam Mountford failed to clear Matt Wragg’s ball forward but Branagan’s shot hit the side netting.
