Maltby Main Football Club
Main soon got back to winning ways with a brilliant 5-0 at Brighouse Town.
Changes were made to the starting line up with Jamie Bailey back in goal in place of the injured Andy Coulson and Paul Lavender in midfield with Jon Thompson dropping to the bench alongside new signing Chris Wood from Belper, back for a another spell with Main, on the bench.
Main started the half well and were close to a opener when Scott Whittington hit the underside of the bar from Charlie Weir's 4th minute inswinging corner from the right.
Town's Nick Boshell had a shot on the edge of the box blocked by Jon Wragg and Main striker Ollie Warren headed wide from Weir's ball into the box.
Then, in the 16th minute, Main took the lead when Greg Mason won a header on the edge of the Town box and Rob Branagan fired the ball past 'keeper James Waggett.
Two minutes later Mason tried his luck from 35 yards with a shot that went just wide and Branagan had a header deflected wide from Jon Bownes free kick in.
In the 26th minute, Adam Shepherd Main’s second, shooting into the bottom corner following Lavender's ball into the box.
Warren hit a 29th minute shot wide and, late in the half, Bailey got down well to keep out Boshell's shot through a crowded box.
Town stepped up their game in the early part if the second half.
Alex Hallam had a couple of chances off target, Boshell had a back post shot saved by Bailey and Hallam shot just wide from Simon Wood's free kick from the right.
In 69th minute,Town were reduced to 10 men when Hallam was given a second yellow card following an altercation with Shepherd that also saw the Main captain booked.
Substitute Wood headed just over from Weir's right wing corner in the 73rd minute, three minutes later, Wood got Main's 3rd, curling a surperb shot high into the net after being set up by Lavender and Warren.
Wood headed just wide from another Weir flag kick.
Three minutes from the end Shepherd shot just wide and, a minute later, substitute Danny Jones got on the end of Wood's cross from the left and headed past Waggett to make it 4-0 before, deep into injury time, unleashing a fierce left footed shot from 20 yards that flew into the net for Main's 5th and his second.
