Maltby Main Football Club
Main's unbeaten League run came to an end, conceding 2 late goals in a 2-0 defeat at Brighouse Town.
Main went close to an opening goal in the 7th minute when Town defender Greg Porter cleared Paul Lavender's header off the line following Scott Mellon's free kick into the box from the right.
A minute later, Town midfielder Ben Green shot over after Jon Wragg had headed out Porter's left wing corner.
The game swung from end to end with both sides having chances. Lavender shot just wide for Main and Town striker Shane Hamilton wasted 2 chances by shooting well over and hitting a shot straight at Main 'keeper Jamie Bailey.
Then, Lavender shot wide in the box and Bailey saved a Jacob Lever header from Wayne Crossley's free kick.
Town finished the goalless half the stronger, with Crossley hitting a back post shot wide and then shooting wide from 10 yards.
In last 5 minutes of the half, Bailey saved Lever's 25 yard strike and easily gathered Scott Driscoll's header that was straight at him.
Then, the Main 'keeper got down well to deny Green following James Ellis' understrength chest down in the box.
Main had a couple of early 2nd half chances with Rob Branagan having a shot in the box saved by Town 'keeper Clark Lydon and Lee Mellon headed wide from Scott Mellon's corner from the left.
Again, both sides had chances that came to nothing but, in the last 20 minutes, things began to liven up with Main winger Scott Whittington shooting wide from 15 yards following Nathan Houghton's quick free kick and, from a Porter left wing corner, Crossley shot wide at the back post for Town.
Lee Mellon tried his luck with a 40 yard free kick that was on target and Lydon had to tip over the bar.
Then, just as the game looked to be heading for a goalless draw, Main conceded an 85th minute penalty when substitute Shawn Mitchell brought down Danny Hull inside the box and Crossley shot into the bottom left corner of the net from the spot.
In the last minute Town got a 2nd goal when skipper Steve Hollingworth ran from his own half and shot past the diving Bailey from 20 yards.
