Maltby Main Football Club

Main travelled up the A1 to Garforth for what, on paper, seemed a tough challenge but came away with their best win of the season so far.
In windy conditions both sides struggled to gain the upper hand and fortune smiled on Maltby on 27 minutes when a back pass was headed out by the home ‘keeper and Brian Cushworth  volleyed the ball home to put Main ahead.
It was 2-0 on 38 minutes when a hopeful ball into the box was met with a header from Brian Cushworth before, a minute later, a through ball found Garforth’s Tawanda Rupere who slid the ball passed Ben Brunt to make it 1-2.
After several attempts to score Sam Jones restored
the two goal advantage in the 43rd minute as he made it 3-1 to Main.  He scored again a minute later with an unstoppable volley from 20 yards.
Main were under pressure in second half when Nick Black shot home to make it 2-4 but, on 63 minutes, a Brian Cushworth knockdown saw Liam Royles make it 5-2.
An excellent result and a good all round team effort.
