Main’s three match unbeaten run came to an end with four-nil defeat at Hallam.
New signing Richard Elson was given a debut in defence in place of the unavailable Dave Gleeson in an otherwise unchanged side.
In the fourth minute a long ball forward forced Hallam ‘keeper Martin Taylor to race outside his box and hack clear before four minutes later, Lee Naughton’s cross from the left was easily dealt with by Main ‘keeper Jamie Bailey.
The home side took a ninth minute lead when they were awarded a penalty when Ashley Emson’s cross into the box was handled by Scott Mellon and former Main striker Chris Wood beat Bailey from the spot.
Main had the ball in the net in the fifteenth minute when Neil Longhurst headed in from Scott Mellon’s cross but the effort was flagged offside.
Then, Phil Reynolds shot wide and Wood had a headed saved for the home side before Rob Branagan latched onto Paul Lavender’s through ball but shot wide from a good position. Branagan then had shot in the box blocked following Bailey’s long throw out.
Both sides had chances to add to the score with Wood shooting over and Adam Shepherd having a header saved for Main from Branagan’s cross from the right.
In the thirty fourth minute, Main striker Neil Longhurst was sent clear on goal but Taylor made a great stop at the edge of the box.
Two minutes later Hallam went two-up when Elson headed into his own net following Scott Preece’s free kick from the right.
The last action of the half saw Longhurst have a shot blocked and Joe Boggild had a low shot saved by Bailey.
Hallam had a couple of early second half chances with Bailey saving efforts from Wood and Keir Hannity.
After fifty three minutes Shepherd’s ball forward forced defender James Baker to head back and Longhurst’s shot from ten yards was brilliantly saved by Taylor.
A minute later Hallam scored again when former Main midfielder Danny Patterson saw his shot from the edge of the box hit the post. The ball was only half cleared and Boggild’s shot  from wide on the left went in off the underside of the bar.
Straight after the goal, Longhurst had a shot blocked and Boggild shot just wide.
Hallam finished the half strongly with Harrity having a shot turned out by Bailey and Preece saw his long range shot hit the post.
Substitute Danny Meadows had a shot well saved by Bailey before, four minutes from the end, Taylor produced another great stop to keep out substitute Lee Mellon’s goalbound header following Scott Mellon’s free kick into the box.
Then, in injury time, Meadows got Hallam’s fourth when ran through and chipped over Bailey inside the box.
