Maltby Main Football Club
Main travelled to lowly Lincoln Moorlands Railway on the back of the convincing 3-0 home win other Shirebrook Town and set about the home side straight away with skipper Paul Staniforth flashing a lomg range shot just wide of the post in the third minute.
Main took the lead in the sixth minute when Chris Wood fired in a powerful shot that Mark Neave could only parry and Scott Somerville slotted the ball into the open net from close range.
Two minutes later Matt Wragg fired the ball wide of the goal following Somerville’s run down the wing and cross from the left before the home side’s first real effort which came in the fourteenth minute when Jamie Bailey had to get down low to save from Scott Coupland.
In the twentieth minute Simon Mowbray raced down the wing and crossed from the right to Craig Bridge, but Gary Hibbert blocked his shot and Mowbray sliced the rebound wide of the goal.
Five minutes later a long clearance by Danny Reilly fell to Matt Wragg who held the ball up and played it wide to Wood. Wood switched the ball to Adam Shepherd who played it back to Wragg but the Main striker’s shot was tipped around the post and out for a corner by Neave.
In the twenty eighth minute Somerville raced out of his own half and played a one-two with Matt Wragg, but his shot went wide of the post.
On the half hour mark Coupland fired the ball high over the bar following Reilly’s clearance of Nick Robinson’s long ball but the home side drew level in the thirty seventh
minute when Jack McGovern volleyed in following Bailey’s punch out.
Main were forced to make a change in the fifty second minute with Matt Wragg coming off with blood pouring out of a head injury and Maltby top scorer Rob Branagan coming on.
Branagan’s first touch almost put Main back in front when he latched onto Steve John’s  poor clearance, but the Main striker hit the post with Neave well beaten.
On the hour mark Main were denied what looked like a certain penalty when Wood was brought down in the area by Paul Hodds but the referee waved play on.
A minute later a great one–two involving Staniforth and substitute Dave Shepherd resulted in Staniforth racing into the area but his shot was blocked at point blank range by Hodds.
The home side went in front in the seventy second minute when Steve John side footed in from close range following a goalmouth scramble in the Main area and Moorlands sealed the three points when Coupland benefited from Bailey’s weak punch and scored with a overhead kick in the eighty second minute leaving Main in shock and regretting their missed chances.

Main: Jamie Bailey, Paul Ellis, Paul Staniforth (John Wragg 80), Danny Reilly, Gary Hibbert, Adam Shepherd, Ryan Tate, Simon Hickey, Matt Wragg (Rob Branagan 52), Chris Wood, Scott Somerville (Dave Shepherd 59).
