On a heavy pitch following overnight rain, Main were beaten 1-0 by Liversedge despite having a full strength squad.
Striker Ollie Warren returned up front and Jon Bownes, back from injury was in defence. Main also gave a debut in the starting line up to new signing from Retford to Lee Whittington.
Both sides had early chances with Jameel Nawaz shooting wide, Daz Leach heading wide and Corey Larkin having a shot saved for 'Sedge.
Main defender Charlie Weir hit a 20 yard free kick just over and Lee Whittington saw his header cleared off the line by Leach following Rob Branagan's left wing cross.
'Sedge went close again with Andy Philps and Joe Hewitt having shots blocked.
Then, Main 'keeper Jamie Bailey produced a great stop by tipping a Rob Boardman shot over the bar from Jamie Wasley's corner but, from the resulting corner, 'Sedge took a 24th minute lead when Larkin headed into the bottom corner from close range after Leach headed into his path.
A minute later, Branagan wasted a good chance by shooting straight at 'keeper Lee Ashforth in the box.
Then, Ashforth blocked Branagan's shot as the striker got on the end of Lee Whittington's through ball and saved a weak shot from Lee Whittington.
In the 31st minute, Main went close to an equaliser when Ashforth pushed Weir's 20  yard free kick onto the bar and Adam Shepherd saw his shot kept out by Ashforth.
Boarman hit a 30 yard effort over and Weir was off target for Main.
Bailey got down well to deny Hewitt in first half injury time.

Main stepped up their game in the 2nd half with Paul Lavender having a shot blocked and then shooting just wide.
Branagan shot wide  and Lee Whittington had a header in the box saved from a Weir cross from left.
After 75 minutes, Weir hit a 30 yard effort wide and, 3 minutes later, Main substitute Danny Jones  hit the top of the bar with a shot in the box after being set up by Lavender and Warren.
The home side had a couple of chances with James Hurtley shooting wide and substitute Gibreal Bojang shooting straight at Bailey before Ashforth again kept his side in front by making a brilliant stop to deny Danny Jones, tipping his shot from 10 yards over the bar.
In the last minute Danny Reilly had a header from a Lavender corner headed off the line by Hewitt.
