Main were looking to put their 5-0 humiliation at the hands of Parkgate behind them when they travelled to Liversedge. The game was played in terrible conditions with a strong wind and heavy rain throughout the game.
Main manager Sean Kay made three changes with Craig McCormick replacing the injured Danny Mullooley, skipper Chris Piperithis, back from suspension, in for Mark Coggin and Russ Hobson coming into the starting eleven with Liam Kay dropping to the bench.
Main came out fighting with Andy Hirst winning a corner in the third minute. Chris Dickman lifted the corner into the box and Jovan Maric had his shot blocked on the line.
Main keeper Olly Schofield got down well to save Joe Walsh’s low strike that zipped along the surface in the eighth minute and Schofield then gave the Main supporters a scare when he sliced the ball straight to Danny Cooper but, with the net wide open, Cooper’s strike was weak and Schofield was back in time to clear the danger.
Sedge took the lead in the sixteenth minute when Nicky Boshell sidefooted home from a tight angle.
Main were awarded a free kick twenty yards from goal in the twenty fifth minute, Dickman stepped up but the ball flew straight into the wall and the home side were unlucky not to have had a second on the half hour mark when Cooper raced into the area but his shot curled just wide of the upright.
For Main, Hobson was denied in the fortieth minute when rose to meet Dickman’s cross but his header flew into the arms of Lee Ashforth.
A minute later Hobson just failed to reach the ball has it flew into the box from Jordan Stock’s cross; a touch would have given Main the equaliser.
A minute before the break, Main hotshot Scott Somerville sent Main into half time level when he controlled Hirst’s low cross on the edge of the area and smashed the ball past Ashforth.
Schofield was barely tested in the fourty seventh minute when Noel Whittaker headed straight at him before Main skipper Piperithis showed his class and bravery when he flung himself at the feet of Whittaker to deny the young striker as he rounded McCormick and raced in on goal.
Kay made two changes in the sixty sixth minute with Maric and Hobson being replaced by Danny Payne and Luke Fletcher in an attempt to give Main a more attacking outlook.
Fletcher nearly had the ball in the net three minutes later when his cross clipped the top of the bar on its way out for a goalkick but with fifteen minutes remaining, Andy Shuttleworth collected Paul Staniforth’s cleaarence, rounded both Schofield and McCormick and side footed into the empty net to give Sedge the lead.
Somerville was denied in the eight fifth minute by a great save from Ashforth with the ball heading for the top corner. Main went searching for a late equaliser and, in the second minute of stoppage time, Fletcher rolled the ball to Dickman whoise pass found Hirst but his shot hit Stock and went out of play for a goal kick.

Main: Olly Schofield, Craig McCormick (Lima Kay 80), Paul Staniforth, Andy Hirst, Chris Piperithis (Capt), Nicky Darker, Chris Dickman, Russ Hobson (Luke Fletcher 63), Scott Somerville, Jovan Maric (Danny Payne), Jordan Stock.
