Maltby Main Football Club
Main continued their bright start to the new season with a one-one draw with Arnold Town, but slipped to third in the Premier Division behind local rivals Dinnington Town.
The visitors were playing their fifth game on the road as their new ground was still not ready for them to start their home campaign.
Local youngster Nicky Hancock was given his full debut up front with Chris Dickman and Paul Staniforth  back on the bench for Main’s fourth consecutive home game.
After a slow start, Main striker Matt Wragg dragged a fifth minute shot wide following John Beggs’ through ball.
In the eighteenth minute, Town’s Craig Mitchell went close to opening the scoring when his shot on the turn clipped the top of the Main bar but, a minute later, Town took the lead when Mitchell picked out an unmarked Mark Brewster and his back post header from close range beat Main ‘keeper Danny Heald.
The lead only lasted two minutes as Main instantly hit back. Matt Wragg and Hancock combined to set up Simon Hickey who powerfully headed past Town ‘keeper Lee Broster.
Danny Patterson hit a twenty five yard free kick into the Town defensive wall after Mark Clarke had pulled back Hancock and, with five minutes of the half remaining, Mitchell hit a shot from the edge of the box inches wide.
Arnold started the second half strongly and had several chances.
David Wilkins headed over from Brewster’s free kick and then screwed a shot wide.
Heald easily saved a forty yard free kick from Brewster and defender Chris Hudson had a close range shot saved.
Heald made three good saves, keeping out substitute Josh Thornton’s header after Mitchell flicked on from Brewster’s corner. Then, the young Maltby ‘keeper easily saved Mitchell’s weak shot and tipped a Brewster shot from twelve yards over the bar.
Nick Hall shot over the home bar in the seventy third minute following a goalmouth srcamble before, at the other end, Hancock shot well wide after Clarke had sliced a clearance from Beggs’ pass forward straight to the youngster’s feet.
Matt Wragg had a goalbound shot blocked and, at the other end, Mitchell had a low shot saved by Heald as the points were shared in a even game.

Maltby Main: Danny Heald, Jonathan Wragg, Dave Shepherd (Paul Staniforth 75), James Ellis, Scott McDonald, Michael Baker (Chris Dickman 75), John Beggs, Simon Hickey, Matt Wragg, Nick Hancock, Danny Patterson (Danny White 81).
