Main were looking to build on their away point at Mickleover Sports last weekend when they welcomed Arnold Town to Muglet Lane.
Manager Sean Kay stayed faithful to the same 14 but made three changes with Paul Staniforth, Andy Jones and Ashley Longstaff returning to the starting eleven and Mark Coggin, Mike Taylor and Jovan Maric moving to the substitute’s bench.
Town started the brighter with Nick Hall heading wide of the goal at the back post following a long throw in by Oliver Thompson in only the second minute.
Two minutes later, Longstaff was unlucky not to give Main the lead when his curling shot from the corner of the box flew just wide of the Town goal before, on the quarter hour mark,  Jordan Stock’s through ball found Longstaff clear through on goal but he was called back for offside - a very close decision for the referee’s assistant on the far side.
Five minute later a long throw from Thompson caused Main problems with Aaron Large shooting wide from eight yards following Chris Freestone’s flick on.
On the half-hour mark Town had strong claims for a penalty turned down when Danny Mulhooley brought down Freestone in the area. The game was allowed to play on and Large fired a low cross in and Lee Sutton stabbed the ball goalwards but he was in an offside position.
Main was forced to make a substitution in the thirty fifth minute with midfielder Craig McCormick going off to be replaced by Jovan Maric.
Jordan Stock forced Town ‘keeper, Lee Broster, into a save low down in the thirty seventh minute. The ball broke loose
and Longstaff pounced and but his shot was deflected behind for a corner.
With five minutes of the half remaining Main also had strong claims for a penalty waved away when Jon Hirst tripped Scott Riley in the area.
In the sixty second minute Longstaff was denied when he controlled Jones’s ball but his shot was again deflected behind for a corner. Staniforth curled in the corner, Broster got a fist to the ball, Longstaff lifted the ball back into the area and Luke Fletcher headed wide at the back post.
Town were awarded a controversial penalty in the seventy second minute when Sutton’s shot hit Mulhooley on the hand. Sutton stepped up and smashed the ball into the left side of the goal sending Liam Richardson the wrong way.
Richardson pulled off the save of the match when he palmed Kevin Brooke’s twenty five yard free kick over the bar before, with seven minutes remaining in the game, Riley broke through the Town defence and was 1 on 1 with Broster but he scuffed his shot wide of the goal.
Five minutes from time, Nick Hall sealed the points for the visitors when he headed home from Brooke’s corner and Sutton’s header goalwards.
