Maltby Main Football Club
A new look Maltby Main side opened their account of the new campaign with a brilliant performance to beat Bridlington Town 3-2 at Muglet Lane.
Main named eight new signings for the match, three of which made the starting line up alongside the nucleus of last season's squad.
Main winger Scott Whittington had a 3rd minute weak shot saved on the edge of the box by Town 'keeper Mark Wilberforce after Rob Branagan's right wing cross was only half cleared.
Main 'keeper Jamie Bailey was brought into the action when he had to punch clear James Bennett's high cross from the left.
Then, Bennett had a shot blocked and Bailey got down well to keep out Jamie Paterson's shot in the box following a neat one-two with Ash Allanson.
New Main striker Hayden Barnett got on the end of Lee Mellon's free kick but his header crept just wide before Town had a couple of chances,  Josh Greening having a shot saved and Bennett shooting wide from 25 yards.
Then, in the 29th minute, Main took the lead when Paterson brought down Whittington in the box and Mellon smashed the ball high into the net past Wilberforce from the spot.
The lead had only lasted 2 minutes when Allanson unleased a thunderous shot from 25 yards that flew into the net.
Bailey had a anxious moment 2 minutes before the break when he failed to gather Bennett's low shot in the box and Main defender Reece Wesley had to hack clear for a corner to Town.
Two minutes after the break Branagan headed over from Whittington's high cross from the right.
Town striker Craig Hogg saw a shot deflected out and, from the corner, Rob Eeles got a header on target but was penalised for a push on Main defender Jon Wragg.
Both sides had chances, with Main's Paul Lavender having a header in the box saved and Allanson shot over after a corner from the right was only partially cleared by the Main defence.
On the hour mark, Main retook the lead with a well worked goal. James Ellis swung a free kick from left into the box and Barnett headed down for Lavender to fire home from close range.
Five minutes later it was all square again when Greening forced the ball over the line from close range after Bailey had failed to gather a low ball into the box.
Main substitute Mick Jones had a back post header saved after getting on the end of Mellon's free kick from the right and Town went close again with Greening having a shot blocked and Hogg shooting into the side netting.
With 4 minutes remaining, Mellon shot wide from long range and, at the other end, Bailey made a crucial block to deny Hogg and from the rebound substitute Gareth Owen shot into the side netting.
Then, in the 4th minute of time added on, Main got the winning goal when substitute Mark Clare got on the end of Lavender's low cross from the left and forced the ball over despite pressure from a man on the line.
