Main picked up their first points for nearly a month with a two-two draw with fellow strugglers Brodsworth Welfare but, after taking an early lead, it took a last minute equaliser to save their blushes.
Danny Fells was called upon for a rare appearance in goal replacing the unavailable Oliver Schofield. Chris Dickman and assistant player manager Craig McCormick were back the side replacing the Liam Kay who has signed for Garforth Town. Jordan Stock was on the bench.
In the fourth minute, Welfare striker Darren Fell hit a shot from the edge of the box over the Main bar following Sean Dooley’s free kick but, five minutes later, Main took the lead when Scott Somerville beat the offside trap and raced onto McCormick’s ball forward to beat ‘keeper Jamie Allen to the ball and slotted the ball into the net for his fourth goal in as many matches.
Welfare had a strong period in which they could have grabbed an equaliser. Dave Jones lifted a twenty yard free kick over, Sean Gorman shot wide and Fell and Jake Stanard had shots blocked.
Then, Rob Sanderson headed wide from Paul Bracey’s twenty sixth minute corner.
For Main, McCormick set up midfielder Luke Fletcher but his shot was well off target.
With nine minutes of the half remaining, Jones shot wide and had another effort deflected for a corner, then Fell’s shot was also deflected for a corner as Welfare tested the Main defence.
In the forty first minute, Main went close to a second when Jason Brown cleared Fletcher’s shot that looped over Allan, off the line just beating Main striker Danny Payne to the ball.
Then, Payne headed over from Dickman’s corner and Allan gathered at the second attempt after Payne’s flick on after Nicky Darker’s long throw had caused problems in the visiting defence,
A minute after the break, Fells easily saved Fell’s weak shot before, on fifty five minutes, Somerville shot inches wide of the Welfare goal.
two minutes later Welfare levelled matters when Gorman beat Fells with a low shot into the bottom corner of the net.
Three minutes after equalising, Welfare took the lead with a Gorman penalty after Main substitute Stock brought down Fell in the box.
Somerville had a shot blocked and Fell shot well wide of the Main goal. ells then pulled off a good save to deny Jones’ thirty yard free kick.
Nicky Darker tried his luck from thirty yards, but his effort was well over.
With five minutes remaining Somerville had a shot deflected for a corner and, in stoppage time Somerville was unlucky to see his thunderous shot hit the angle of the crossbar with Allan beaten.
It was left to defender Paul Staniforth to salvage a point for Main, smashing a left foot shot from fifteen yards high into the net following Darker’s long throw.
