Main slipped to their fourth home defeat of the season with a narrow one-nil loss against the Premier Division “100 percenters” Glapwell.
Scott Riley came into the side to replace the injured Jordan Stock and Luke Fletcher was back on the bench with new signing Chris Dickman, making his return to Muglet Lane after a couple of seasons with Hallam.
Nicky Darker shot over the visitors’ bar in an early chance for Main but, in the eighth minute Glapwell took the lead with their first attack when Aaron Brady headed past Liam Richardson in the Main goal from six yards following Paul Smith’s cross from the right.
Then, Glapwell defender Willis Francis shot wide with a long range effort and, at the other end, Danny Payne’s high ball into the box was tipped over the bar by ‘keeper Neil West.
In the fourteenth minute Darker headed over from Riley’s cross and, six minutes later, Richardson saved a Brady header from another Smith cross.
Glapwell ‘keeper West made a good save to deny Danny Mullooley, pushing a low shot around the post.
Glapwell then had several chances to increase their lead. First, Colin Cockerill shot wide, then Brady shot over and Francis shot well wide with a twenty yard free kick.
On thirty six minutes, Payne forced a good stop from West with a shot from the edge of the box but Glapwell finished the half strongly, Ian Brown heading over, Smith firing over the Main bar and Richardson made a good save by diving at the feet of Brady following his burst into the box.
Three minutes after the break Brown had a low shot saved by Richardson and a minute later Darker almost pulled Main level when his close range header from Scott Somerville’s corner hit the back post, bounced away and was cleared by the Glapwell defence.
Main went in search of an equaliser with substitute Fletcher having low shot from twenty yards saved and Andy Hirst hitting a free kick into the defensive wall.
Glapwell substitute Craig Mitchell shot wide from a good position, with three minutes remaining, Mitchell also had shot deflected for a corner and at the other end Hirst shot over the visitors’ bar.
