Maltby Main Football Club
Main gained a welcome three points with a 2-0 victory against struggling Hallam at Muglet Lane.
Four changes were made to the starting line up after the defeat at Lincoln Moorlands. Danny Reilly and new signings, Sam Gouldsborough and Patrick Sullivan were in defence with Scott Whittington up front and Jon Wragg, James Ellis and Rob Branagan on the bench along with Simon Hickey, returning from injury.
Main 'keeper Jamie Bailey was soon called into the early action when former Main striker Martin Brissett's ball into the box caused Bailey to spill but the danger was cleared away. Bailey then easily dealt with a weak header from Pat O'Brian.
After 22 minutes, Main striker Charlie Weir had a shot blocked out for corner from which Reilly headed wide at the back post.
Three minutes later, Main broke the deadlock with a well taken goal. Weir got on the end of Jonathan Bownes free kick from the right and headed past 'keeper Martin Taylor into the top corner of the net.
Then, Scott Whittington latched onto Paul Lavender's through ball and shot past Taylor but defender Phil Reynolds cleared away from the 6 six yard line.
After a quiet period in the game, Hallam's Ash Emson had a shot deflected for a corner that Reynolds headed over at the back post and Lee Jenkinson shot wide with 3 first half minutes left.
Both sides had early second half chances.
Brissett shot wide and into the side netting and Lavender had a header saved from Gouldsborough's free kick, Reilly headed over from another corner and Whittington forced
Taylor into a good stop following Dave Gleeson's ball into the box.
Bownes shot wide in the 66th minute and  Hallam substitute Billy Rowley shot the same way at the other end.
Main Substitute Rob Branagan had a shot from 20 yards saved and, five minutes later, Hallam had the ball in the net when Jenkinson headed in from a corner but it was ruled out for pushing in the box.
At the other end, Weir shot wide of the target before, with six minutes remaining, Main increased their lead when substitute Simon Hickey cashed in on a mix up in the Hallam defence between 'keeper Taylor and Jenkinson and nipped in to walk the ball into an empty net.
Main had a couple of late  chances, Whittington shooting wide and Branagan seeing a goalbound shot blocked.
