Maltby Main Football Club
A seventh home defeat for Main was inflicted by Long Eaton with a 1-0 loss.
Main striker Danny McKenzie had a couple of early chances, first having a shot blocked by Mike Armstrong in the box and, from the loose ball after Scott Whittington's shot was saved, his low shot was also saved by United 'keeper Ross Whalin.
Then, in the 11th minute, in their first attack of the afternoon, the visitors took the lead when Zakk Hilton raced onto a long ball down the right and his low shot deflected into the bottom corner of the net off defender Gary Middleton.
Main had a long period of pressure with Rob Branagan hitting a 20 yard effort straight at Whalin, McKenzie had shots deflected and blocked by the United defence and then saw his shot from wide on the right well saved by Whalin.
Main skipper Scott Mellon shot wide in the box after Mick Jones had headed down Whittington's free kick.
In the 36th minute, Branagan shot just wide from close range from Mellon's left wing corner and, at the other end, Josh Hooley headed over from Ethan Whitfield's cross.
With 5 minutes left in the first half, Branagan headed wide at the back post after being set up by Mellon and Whittington.
Six minutes into the 2nd half, Jones hit a shot wide and Hooley shot just wide for United.
On the hour mark, Main went close to an equaliser when Jon Wragg's shot from Mellon's free kick was cleared off the line and Whittington had a shot saved after his free kick was blocked.
In the last 20 minutes, Main continued to pile on the pressure with McKenzie heading over from a Whittington corner and substitute Paul Lavender headed over in the box following Mellon's free kick.
The last action of the half saw Hooley waste a good chance for United by shooting into the side netting in the 86th minute.
