Main were looking to end their losing streak when they entertained bottom of the table Pickering Town at Muglet Lane on Saturday.
Manager Sean Kay was boosted by the return of Craig Mudd and Chris Piperithis and recalled Jordan Stock and Ash Longstaff to the starting eleven.
The visitors had two great chances to open the scoring with James Drinkall shooting over in the second minute and Ricky Greening shooting wide in the third minute.
Town took the lead in the tenth minute when Mark Swales sidefooted home from close range following Liam Salt’s square ball.
Longstaff had a great chance on the fifteen minute mark when his overhead kick flew just over the bar following Russ Hobson’s cross but Main were level in spectacular fashion a minute later when Longstaff latched onto Liam Kay’s ball forward, he lifted the ball over Georgie Rose then lobbed Kevin Martin in the Town goal.
In the nineteenth minute Danny Payne went narrowly close to giving Main the lead when he headed Kay’s freekick just wide of the far post.
Longstaff should have had a second in the twenty first minute when he benefited from a defensive mix-up between Martin and Wayne Aziz but his half volley went over the bar.
On the half hour mark Town were unfortunate not to take the lead when Swales’s low cross was missed by two players and rolled out for a goalkick.
In the thirty sixth minute Town were awarded a free kick twenty five yards from goal following James Mitchell’s foul on Greening. Town skipper Joe Connor took the free kick early and was booked for it by referee Philip Bramley. Connor retook the free kick, playing the ball early to Rob Eeles, and his cross was blocked behind for a corner by Hobson.
In the fortieth minute Connor flashed a shot wide from twenty yards following Greening’s square ball before, for Main, Paul Staniforth forced Martin into a good save down low to his left with a curling free kick.
Payne gave Main the lead thirty six seconds into the second half, side footing home from close range following Martin’s fumble of Kay’s free kick.
Payne then had a shot saved in the fiftieth minute following Longstaff’s square ball but Town equalised in the fifty fifth minute when Salt chased down Mudd’s back pass but the ball looked to have hit Salt on the arm as Liam Richardson attempted to clear. With Main appealing for handball, Salt tapped the ball home.
The visitors retook the lead in the sixty ninth minute when Connor’s deep cross was headed in at the far post by Salt with Richardson unable to keep the ball out.
Town midfielder Steve Baxter was booked for a nasty challenge on Jordan Stock in the seventieth minute before Main equalised for a second time when Payne curled a shot past Martin in the seventy fourth minute following Mudd’s square ball.
Baxter was shown his second yellow card for a dangerous two footed challenge on Mitchell which saw the big Main defender stay down.
The visitors took the lead again for the third time when Drinkall sidefooted past Richardson from close range in the eightieth minute and Longstaff was thwarted by Martin in the eighty third minute following Hobson’s ball forward.
Richardson pulled of a great full stretch save from Swales to keep Main in with a chance of snatching a point and pulled off two great saves late on to deny Town further goals, first tipping Salt’s shot wide then bravely saving at the feet of Salt as he was clear through on goal.
