Maltby Main Football Club
A strong Selby Town side completed a league double over Main with a three-nil win, a repeat of last month’s game at Selby.
Main had a couple of early chances with defender Matt Griffin, back in the side after suspension, hitting a free kick wide and striker Richard Tracey heading wide from John Beggs’cross from the right following Gary Hibbert’s ball forward.
In the tenth minute Main went behind when Hibbert mis-timed his headed clearance from James McDaid’s cross into the box and the ball looped over Main ‘keeper Jamie Bailey into the top corner of the net.
Town’s Christian Fox shot well wide in the fourteenth minute and, at the other end, Tracey forced Town ‘keeper Adam Mitchell into a good save with a shot from the edge of the box.
On the half hour, Town raced into a two goal lead when Leigh Wood headed in from Fox’s corner from the left.
Then, Bailey produced two quality saves, first beating away Fox’s fierce shot and getting down well to deny Sean Gorman who latched onto Brenton Leister’s through ball.
With a minute remaining in the first half Griffin had a far post header from Beggs’ corner blocked.
Five minutes after the break, Matt Wragg set up Tracey but his shot lacked power and Mitchell easily saved.
Fifteen minutes later Main were close to going further behind when Leister‘s close range effort hit the bar and, from the rebound, Scott Pickles’ shot also came back off the bar.
Then, Bailey made another brilliant point blank save to deny Gorman after Andy Dawson’s shot from a corner was blocked and, from another corner, McDaid shot over as Town began to dominate.
Griffin got on the end of substitute Dave Shepherd’s free kick into the box but it was easily gathered by Mitchell.
Main midfielder Simon Hickey hit a thirty yard strike wide of the target in the eighty seventh minute but, two minutes later, Town wrapped up the points when Leister smashed a thirty yard strike high into the net.

Main: Jamie Bailey, Jon Wragg, James Ellis (Danny Reilly 75), Gary Hibbert, Matt Griffin, Chris Dickman (Dave Shepherd 62), John Beggs (Ryan Tate 73), Simon Hickey, Richard Tracey, Scott Somerville, Matt Wragg.
