A well earned one-one draw against a strong Selby Town side halted a run of home defeats for Main and lifted spirits in the club after a good performance.
Town were the first to show their intention to preserve their hundred percent away record when Main ‘keeper Liam Richardson saved a Tom Reid shot in the first minute before, five minutes later, Town ‘keeper Adam Mitchell saved a header from Ashley Longstaff following Scott Somerville’s cross from the right.
Selby winger Jon Loukes shot over the Main bar and Somerville forced Mitchell to turn a shot around the post as the game swung from end to end.
Reid went close  for the visitors when his shot was blocked and Town took the lead on 22 minutes. Christian Fox scored with a free kick from the edge of the box that Richardson got a hand to but could only parry into the roof of the net.
A minute later, Town were close to a second goal when Steve Lyon’s shot hit the underside of the crossbar before Richardson easily saved another shot from Lyon.
Then, defender Andy Pawson hit  a long range effort over.
In the thirty second minute, Main levelled with a brilliant from Luke Fletcher who smashed in a shot with the outside of his right foot into the top of the net from twelve yards.
With six minutes of the half left, Town’s Brenton Leister
had a header saved and Mitchell saved a low shot from Somerville as the scores remained level at the interval.
A minute after the break Fox shot wide for Town and striker Danny Chadwick shot wide following Fox’s through ball.
Then, Fox had a header saved and a Chadwick shot was saved as Town piled on the pressure.
In the fifty third minute Town re-took the lead when Reid scored from close range after his first shot was blocked by Richardson but it took only five minutes for Main to bring the scores back level for a second time.
Mitchell made a good save to deny Somerville from Andy Hirst’s pass but Skipper Chris Piperithis flicked on Paul Staniforth’s resulting long throw to Ashley Longstaff who headed past Mitchell from inside the box.
Lyon hit a sixty seventh minute effort over and at the other end Longstaff shot well over for Main.
In injury time Longstaff shot just wide of the Town bar as Main finished strongly to set them up for the trip to local rivals Parkgate.
