Main were looking for a better result after their midweek defeat at Long Eaton when they entertained Winterton Rangers at Muglet Lane.
Main started the game the stronger, forcing Rangers keeper Jamie Allen into two early saves, first collecting Simon Hickey’s deep free kick while under pressure from Ryan Smyth, then punching clear Dave Gleeson’s cross from the left in the 6th and 8th minutes.
The visitors first  real chance came in the twenty second minute when Jake Stannand fired high over.
Rob Hayes forced Allen into a save down low in the twenty fourth minute with a powerful low shot before Stannand again wasted a great chance for the visitors, this time firing well wide of the Main goal in the thirty sixth minute.
Jamie Bailey pulled off a great point blank save to deny Danny Frost after the ball had dropped to the winger inside the Main penalty area in the forty third minute.
Adam Shepherd had the last chance of the first half has he fired a shot over the Rangers bar on the stroke of half time.
Winterton took the lead two minutes after the re-start when Liam Slack sidefooted past Bailey following Frost’s through ball.

Allen pulled off a great save to deny Lee Mellon in the fifty fifth minute, tipping his header over the bar.
Mellon again forced Allen into a save with his long range strike two minutes later before Rangers doubled their lead in the fifty ninth minute when Slack inadvertently curled the ball past Bailey with his cross from the left, the ball flying into the top corner of the goal off his shin.
Gavin Cooper wasted a glorious chance to make it 3-0 when he fired on to the Maltby bar with the goal empty after Bailey had denied Frost again from point blank range in the sixty ninth minute.
The impressive Main ‘keeper then made a world class save to deny Andy Lanigen’s header that was heading for the top corner of the Main goal in the eighty fourth minute.
Right on the stroke of full time James Radford went close  to putting Main on the score sheet when he fired through a crowd of players but the ball deflected off Greg Mason and out for a goal kick.
