An under-strength Maltby suffered defeat at the hands of a very good footballing side in Tadcaster.
Captain Nicky Darker was absent through injury and Assistant Manager Martin Barnfield filled in on the bench. Danny Reilly returned to defence at right back, while the home side had new signing, ex-Manchester United and England midfielder, Jonathan Greening teaming up with his brother for the first time in his career.
‘Keeper Ben Brunt was the first half star for Main as he continually thwarted the home forwards with a string of brilliant saves.
However, a good first half for Maltby saw them eventually fall behind to a Josh Greening effort on 41 minutes when he wrong footed keeper Ben Brunt to score.
The second half saw Ben Brunt again thwart the home side before Greening scored his second with a tap in to make it
2-0 after 56 minutes.
A Vincent Dhesi shot from the edge of the box made it 3-0 on 74 minutes, and Josh Greening completed his hat-trick from the spot on 79 minutes to make it 4-0.
Maltby’s man of the match, ‘keeper Ben Brunt, was beaten by Callum Ward on 85 minutes and Nick Thompson on 88 minutes for the 5th and 6th goals respectively.
Today was a lesson to be learned from a really good footballing side in Tadcaster.
